Artificial synapses based on layered multi-component metal oxides

Neuromorphic electronics has received considerable attention recent years, and its basic functional units are synaptic electronic devices. A two-terminal artificial synapse with sandwiched structure emulates plasticity of the biological synapses under action nerve-like electrical impulse signals. In this paper, <i>P</i>3 phase Na<sub>2/3</sub>Ni<sub>1/3</sub>Mn<sub>2/3</sub>O<sub>2</sub> multi-element metal oxides layered synthesized by sol-gel process. Owing to fact that Na<sup>+</sup> is easy embed/eject into crystal structure, an ion-migrating based on designed fabricated. The device important plasticity, such as excitatory postsynaptic current, paired-pulse facilitation, spike-number dependent spike-frequency spike-voltage amplitude spike-duration plasticity. realizes identification response Morse code commands.
